Feature & Follow is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read. The purpose is to meet new people and gain more followers in the book blogging community.
To not put so much pressure on myself. I started blogging because I love to read and chat about what I've read. That has morphed into also loving the people I've (cyber) met and helping indie authors promote their books. But, at times I try to take on too much and then it looses all its fun. :( So, no more of that!Q: What New Years Blogging Resolution have you put on yourself?
Also, I am going to try to feel less guilty about DNF'ing books. I think I've come up with a solution for that problem...if I don't finish it, I will give a copy away so the author has another chance at a fan. Speaking of which ~ I still have a few to give away here ---> DNF Giveaway <--- If you're interested.
That's pretty much it ~ how about you?
I know exactly how you feel. I started my blog 2 years ago but early last year I started to gain a lot more followers and was getting contacted for reviews and blog tours for the first time. It was a bit overwhelming and I found myself start to not want to read and not want to review which was horrible since I used to love it so much. I took a 3 month break which was exactly what I needed. I definitely learned from last year and hope this year will be better.

Oh! That's fine. I DNF quite a number of books as well, sometimes they lose their appeal.

I DNF alot then i feel horrible about it, sometimes i just can not get into the book. Pressure is a big stressor it seems with bloggers, the constant need to post something, to do something productive.. i hope you achieve your Zen.

Good luck with your resolutions :) Just started following you! Here are my resolutions for new year: http://bookbunnysreviews.blogspot.fi/2013/01/feature-412013.html
ReplyDeleteHi, that's a great resolution, sometimes we need to remind ourselves of exactly why we started doing something and get back to that place, otherwise the things that we love can become something we dread. I hope blogging is much more fun for you this year.

I love those resolutions, girl! I'm actually trying to do the same thing! I'm scared my blog will feel more like a chore, as well as reading and reviewing. I don't want that to happen. Need to keep the fun to it and not let it get to that point of it feeling like a dreaded chore, ya know? And I am the same with DNF'ing. I hate when I can't finish a book, but if I can't finish it I'm not going to read a book that isn't for me. So, I like your idea on that a lot!!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Ali!!!! :D
New follower :) Very true. After all what is the point of blogging when the fun is gone. There shouldn't be any pressure on blogging.

Great resolutions, honey! I totally get what you mean about the pressure, sometimes it just gets to be too much! Which is probably why I'm always going on hiatus! :p

ReplyDeleteHere's my Feature & Follow Friday post.
I can totally relate to the "less pressure" thing. Blogging should be fun, and I think a lot of bloggers need to remember that. And thank you for following!
ReplyDeleteThese are really good goals. The less pressure thing is something we all need to do. Blogging is supposed to be fun.
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by my blog
What a great goal! It can be easy to take on too much and to put too much pressure on ourselves. Good luck staying balanced. Wishing you a 2013 filled with magic and joy. :)

Those are great goals! It's easy to start taking blogging too seriously sometimes but it should be FUN more than anything! And I used to feel super guilty about DNFing books too...now I just quite while I'm ahead and before I get too frustrated >.<
